CHAIRMAN JEFFRIES STATEMENT ON HALF A MILLION COVID-19 DEATHS

NEW YORK – Today, as deaths attributed to the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States reached 500,000, House Democratic Caucus Chairman Hakeem Jeffries issued the following statement: 

“Today, the United States reached a harrowing milestone in our nation’s history. More than half a million American souls have perished due to this once-in-a-century pandemic. Though the tragic loss of life can be counted, the coronavirus has visited upon the American people pain and suffering that is immeasurable.

As we mourn with the families and loved ones of those who have been taken from us too soon, House Democrats remain focused on implementing President Biden’s robust vaccine distribution plan and providing relief to everyday Americans. With the recent decline in daily cases, we remain hopeful that brighter days are ahead and we know that we must continue this fight with the fierce urgency of now until we crush this virus.”
